How We Got Started

MICE & RAT CONTROL KLAMATH FALLS

Homeowners most typically have to deal with mice and rat infestation above any other rodents. However, these pests have survival instincts that make them very difficult to get under control. Mice and rats are also known as rapid breeders, which means that they work to maintain the population of their colony by constant reproduction. In fact, one pair of mice and make up to 200 offspring during a four month span. As mice and rats expand their nest to accommodate their growing brood, they are very destructive and will chew on everything around them. Their bodies are able to adjust so that they can slip through small cracks and crevices.

The highly-experienced technicians at A-One Pest Control are highly-skilled in a wide variety of operations for identifying and removing the nests of rodents. We have the proper equipment to mediate any potential injury that these pests might inflict when they are cornered. Do not try to approach or rid a rodent from your home by yourself, always contact the professionals at A-One. These rodents will transfer disease, bacteria, and viruses via their feces, saliva, and urine, and therefore should only be addressed by professional pest control technicians.

What Are The Differences Between Rats and Mice?

The main difference between these two types of rodents is their size. Mice are much smaller measuring only about 12 – 20cm in length, however, rats are much bigger growing up to 40 cm. Mice are usually gray, brown, or white and rats are black, white or gray. Mice have long hair tails with pointed snouts and rats have a blunt snout with long hairless tails.

What Are Signs of a Rat Infestation?

Due to their large size and their destructive behaviors while nesting, rats can easily cause the structure of the home they have infested to be compromised. While they are nocturnal and prefer to stay out of sight, when their population gets too big rats start to get territorial and aggressive and can push the weaker of the colony out into the open. If you actually see a rat, the chances are that a mature and thriving colony is living in your home and you have an infestation on your hands. If you do not see rats, the population is probably still very low. However, you will still see signs such as rat droppings and grease or dirt smears on the floor and walls from where they have crawled.

What Are Signs of a Mouse Infestation?

Mice are more likely to be active in the evening, however, it is possible to see them during the day, usually scurrying along the baseboards of the walls. You don’t have to actually see a mouse to know you have them in your home though, mice can be identified by the presence of their droppings. Mouse droppings can be found pretty much anywhere a mouse goes, they are small (3mm to 6mm) and rod shaped. An additional sign of a mouse infestation is the presence of shavings and debris around your home, this is the by-product of mice enjoying chewing on anything they can and leaving being the shavings of whatever they have chewed.

How Are Mouse and Rat Infestations Treated?

Once mice or rats have established themselves in your home, the only way to effectively get rid of the infestation is to hire a trained professional. Mice and rats can maneuver their bodies to slip through cracks and holes that are much smaller than they are. In fact, a 40 cm long rat can squeeze through a hole that is the size of a quarter. Any gaps, crevices, or holes that are the size of smaller than that of a pen cap, should be sealed with cement. Rats and mice have very sharp teeth and they like to chew on things, therefore it is not a good idea to block these areas with plastic or wood.

While rodent infestations can prove to be very challenging to control, the professionals at A-One Pest Control have the experience and the special training to efficiently and effectively rid you of your rodent infestation. We offer free pest inspection and have been providing expert pest control services to the Klamath Falls area for over 30 years.
